2nd Barishal Marathon 2021 has been postponed

The Corona pandemic profoundly affected our way of living and our planning and has brought a lot of abnormal and unexpected stagnations. Similarly, lots of long awaited events throughout the world has also been canceled or postponed or rescheduled on a new delayed date.
In light of all these changes that Corona (COVID 19) is neither going down nor being brought under control within the predicted time, the management committee of Barihsal Marathon has decided that the “2nd Barishal Marathon 2021″, which was proposed earlier on January 29, 2021, better to be postponed. To maintain the continuation after our first event, we need more time to prepare for next year’s event to be more successful, which cannot be fully accomplished in a short period of time during the pandemic.
Apart from this, Shamshernagar Ultra trail marathon 2021 was announced to be held on the same day as 2nd Barishal Marathon 2021. At a time when the Bangladesh’s running community is expanding and events are being organized in new areas, we feel that integrated initiatives are very essential. So it is not realistic and desirable to organize the event on the same date to confuse the runners and reduce their opportunity to participate in more events.
We are sure to come back at a more convenient time in 2021 with more splendid and exciting arrangements. We also hope that the runners will have that faith and confidence on us which we received during our first season.
